The problem

Rewards had to reach holders across many tokens and chains

The brief was a rewards programme that could pay token holders from a wide set of cryptocurrencies — not just the tokens one platform already supported.

The client asked whether existing cross-chain services would be enough. We looked at what those services actually covered. Several tokens on the list were missing, so a single commercial route would have cut the programme short.

What we built

An R&D prototype across more than one aggregator

We treated this as research with a working output: understand the aggregators, then prove that a multi-aggregator path could serve the token list without locking the programme to one vendor.

  • 01

Map the token list against live services

    • Checked which tokens and chains the usual cross-chain services already supported
    • Showed where a single-vendor approach would leave holders unpaid
  • 02

    Evaluate cross-chain aggregators

    • Compared aggregators on coverage, routing and operational fit
    • Focused the prototype on Rango and 1inch — two aggregators that could take different parts of the token set
  • 03

    Build the proof of concept

    • A working prototype that routed reward distribution through both aggregators
    • Enough of the flow running to judge feasibility before a production build
  • 04

Leave room to add tokens later

    • Designed the path so new tokens and chains could be added without starting again
    • Kept the client off a single commercial service that would have been harder to extend

What changed

A working prototype, and a clearer path than one vendor.

  • Feasibility

    • A running proof of concept for cross-chain reward distribution
    • Evidence that a multi-aggregator approach could cover the token list
  • Coverage and cost

    • Routing through more than one aggregator instead of paying for a single commercial service that still missed tokens
    • A cheaper path to test the idea before committing to a full build
  • What we learned

    • Practical knowledge of how these aggregators behave in a rewards flow
    • A base for adding tokens and chains as the programme grows

What this unlocked

The client got a prototype they could evaluate, not a slide deck about cross-chain theory. We got a clear view of where aggregators help, where they stop, and what a production rewards programme would still need to decide.
